Monday Musings: Why Commute?
Put your hands up if you or your business were affected by the blizzards that swept the UK at the start of the year. A conservative estimate from FirstCare for the cost of the snow disruption was £0.5bn a day to UK businesses, with 14% of the workforce staying at home. Bear this in mind now that heavy snowfall is hitting Scotland. How about when Eyjafjallajökull erupted? Or what about the fact that UK organisations are increasingly aware of the business case for work-life balance? Wouldn’t it be beneficial to provide simple, secure remote access to your essential business applications and data (and helping justify your recent iPad purchase too)?
Citrix is the global leader in access infrastructure solutions and the most trusted name in secure access for enterprises and individuals. They have solutions whether you have 1, or 1000 employees. Their entry level product is GoToMyPC – access your own PC or Mac from any web browser as if you were in front of it. For small businesses this is a very cheap solution for a potentially expensive problem. For larger businesses, there’s XenApp; an application delivery solution that enables nearly any Windows application to be delivered as a service to users anywhere on any device. Both solutions can make your business more flexible by:
- Controlling and encrypting access to data and applications to improve security (no USB sticks to get lost)
- Delivering applications instantly to users anywhere on any device
- Forgot that important file? No problem, log in to your PC or server over the web and retrieve it
The initial perception of Citrix solutions is akin to that of the mobile phone when it was first released; you can see the benefits, but you might think that you’ll never need it or that it isn’t for you. Can you imagine going without a mobile phone now? That’s the sort of feedback we get from our customers with Citrix solutions. Why not give GoToMyPC a try here? If you like the sound of XenApp and want to see it in action, contact us on 01296 399 237 or at email@example.com.
That’s it for this Monday!
